Chandigarh, Sanjhi Soch Beauro – President of India Ram Nath Kovind condoled the death of former Union Minister Buta who passed away on Saturday morning.
President took to his official Twitter handle to express the grief.
“In the passing of Shri Buta Singh, the country has lost one of the longest serving parliamentarians with rich administrative experience. He championed the cause of the oppressed and marginalized. Condolences to his family and supporters,” posted President on his Twitter handle.
Former Union Home Minister and Dalit stalwart of the Congress party Buta Singh today passed away after a prolonged illness. He was 86 and is survived by two sons and a daughter.
Born on March 21, 1934 at village Mustafapur in Jalandhar district of Punjab Buta Singh was elected to Lok Sabha eight times.
